Lunati lists them as Noticable, Good, Decent, Fair and Rough.
Comp Cams uses Smooth, Good, Noticable, Choppy and Rough.
My question is, what size engine are they using if its a small block? If stroke eats up duration, a rough idling cam in a 283 will be milder in a 400 or am I missing something?

Yep, pretty much. Just remember, just about every description of a part (powerband, idle quality, etc) is usually based off of a 350.

I've got a Comp Cam that was listed as "Very Rough Idle"

In my 406 it sounds very mild. A slight lope is all it does.

My early 1980's Melling 292/230, .480" lift, "RV", hy- cam in my 9.5 to 1 406 SB talked to me right well!! Imho..

It's still in my motor too.. Came on about 2500 rpm and then hold on..

That 292/230 may be the same as the 292 Bracket Master that I run. Lunati calls it a Decent idle.
