: Ideal 60' time

Is there a way to tell what my ideal 60' time should be? I recently had a new best and I am trying to see how much is left in my combo as is.

The new best was:

60' 1.833
330' 5.244
MPH 85.25
1000' 10.609
1/4 12.735
MPH 106.15

I had substantial improvement in the 60' after doing a good proper burn-out. I think previously my burn-outs must have been a little lacking. The weather was around mid 30's ( this was at the same track as "Frankencrate", gotta love that name) so I think with a little warmer weather and better track prep I may have another tenth or two in it. Any ideas or comments? If you need more info., let me know.

Thanks Rich

I have gone 1.60X consistently on a TNT night with no VHT sprayed. I am running 12.1X at 107mph.

What converter are you running? Stall speed? Tires?

I have gone a 12.55 @ 108.1 MPH w/a 1.83 60 ft.
I would think you got a 12.5 in there with a better 60 ft.

Seem like you are hooking pretty good. That is a good time for 107 MPH.

What converter are you running? Stall speed? Tires? I am running a B@M Torkmaster 3000. The tires are 275/60/15's

A 12.5 would be great. I think I will have to do better than a 1.83 to get there.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for.

So what is going on with a car that has an OK 60' time and doesn't run the numbers on the big end? Just not enough HP?

My 60' says I should run:

60 Foot 1.52
330 Foot 4.39
660 Foot 6.90
660 MPH 98.51
1000 Foot 9.08
1/4 Mile ET 10.94
1/4 Mile MPH 121.17

But instead I run:

60 Foot 1.52
660 Foot 7.193
660 MPH 93.320
1/4 Mile ET 11.430
1/4 Mile MPH 114.186

Coud be gearing or convertor but I am no expert.

Mine said I should be running mid 11s but I run low 12s. I think that calculator is a little off, but my car is very over geared and very over stalled. I red line about 300 feet before the stripe:sad:, and this is at 5600 rpm. But its ok I will try that calculator out next year, shooting for 1.39999X 60fts.:hurray:

I plugged in a 108 MPH and got back 12.27 w/a 1.71 60 ft. for my combo
Makes sense if I am running a 12.55 @ 108 w/a 1.83 60 ft. now

We have run 12.182 @110.04 w/ 1.689 60'
We have run 12.344 @ 111.00 w/ 1.866 60' {without transbrake}

"Optimal" 60' = (.12 * 1/4 mile ET) + .17

So......in my case

6.36 (1/8th mile) x 1.575 = 10.017 (convert 1/8th mile ET to 1/4 mile ET since I haven't run the 1/4)

(10.017 * .12) + .17 = 1.372.

That means I've got some more work to do to get my 1.43 down to 1.37.

That calculator works great for me, I entered 1.63 60 ft. and it gave me 11.73@113, thats my average time.

The sixties are off a mile for a heavy car, with or without lots of power. Never have found any high powered cars running the sixty foots that "that" calculator predicts, wildly optimistic 60' predictions in my opinion.

60 Foot 1.43
330 Foot 4.14
660 Foot 6.51
660 MPH 104.47
1000 Foot 8.56
1/4 Mile ET 10.31
1/4 Mile MPH 128.5

I input my best mph and it came up with this . It really isnt that far off when you compare it to my best to date. 1.38-6.48-@-104--8.54--10.29-@-128.50 Although when I input my best 60ft to date of 1.376 I get:

60 Foot--1.376--330 Foot--3.97--660 Foot--6.25--660 MPH--108.82--1000 Foot--8.22--1/4 Mile ET--9.90--1/4 Mile MPH--133.85

Conclusion ??? My car 60fts well for power made or induction system too small holding me back at the end of the track ???

I'll go with 60fts well for combo, runs pretty darn good on 91-93 octane...I'm happy with it:hurray:

Running my numbers through the calculators a few times, I come up consistent or better than the prgram results.

Ran 1.75 60' time (actual), calucalates to 12.59/105.24

Plug in 111.45 MPH (actual), tells me I should have ran 1.65 60' and 11.89 @ 111.45

Considering how soft I had the car set up to leave, this is realistic, car ran 12.16 @ 111.45 on a 1.75 60' time. Personally, I don't see me getting anywhere below a 1.70 out of the hole, actually don't think I need it nor want to get into launching any harder - at least not for high 11's (11.70-11.80). For me, it's just easier to launch it soft, then run it home.

I put my 60' in this calculator and it came up with the exact mph and 1/8 mile ET that I actually ran.

Switching from 3.55s to 4.11s (or 4.56s) should help bring my 60 down (and another 1,000 RPMS off the line).

It says I can go 11.87 with my current mph with a 1.67 60'

I hope so.

Mine are better then optimum !!! helps to have a 2000 lbs. car with nitrous and 32x14.5 slicks.

Harold is right....heavy cars do not 60' like a light car.

I put in my best 60', 1.327.
The 330' is dead on at 3.83
The 660' ends up slow at 6.02 vs. actual 5.97 (on that pass)
The MPH is off at 112.x vs. actual 114.6

If I enter the actual ET or MPH the car runs in the 1/8th, then it says my 60' is .02 slow. It has to average things out based on some set of criteria that every car will not match.

My conclusion is the calculator is just a semi educated guess, or average. Too many variables like a heavy car like Bob's that 60's above average, but won't run the number the calc. says it should. The flip side is a car like mine, that even though it can break the 60' beams with the back tires, it ET's better than the 60' would show with the calc. Things like 3 speed trans vs. powerglide will have an affect on the differences the calc will show as well. Lots of variables with no real way of factoring them all in.

I put my 115mph best in that calculator and it said it should be going a 11.52. with a 1.60 60'.
It probably isn't that far off when I get rid of that stumble.
My best 60' was only a 1.78.
