: Vapor Lock Fuel Pressure

I can't seem to maintain a constant 5.5 to 6 psi

I have a Edlebrock victor series fuel pump #1712 with an Edlebrock 1727 regulator on my 509 big block.

Originally I had the regualtor mounted to the head and that was casuing a vapor lock problem.

To eliminate any issues from the tank to the pump, I used a seperate feed from a gas can to the pump and have the regulator sitting off to the side to the carb.

After the motor starts to warm up the pressue drops off to ~4 to 4.5 unless I adjust the pressure again.

With everything isolated it can only be the pump or the regualtor, can the pump be vapor locked? Yes I used a gasket.

Do you have a liquid filled gauge?

Yes, liquid filled

The liquid filled gauges give problems like you are describing when they warm up, try another gauge not a liquid filled one.

What kind of gauge are you using? I saw a post here somewhere discussing how the small liquid-filled gauges behave as you just described- dropping pressure after the motor warms up. My Monte does the exact same thing- the advice was "get a better gauge". I haven't gotten a better gauge, but I'm less concerned about the pressure seemingly dropping- the car runs fine no matter where that needle is. I'm not running a regulator, but I think they said set the pressure cold if you are.

I use just regular gauge not liquid filled, it reads the same hot or cold.
