Posted earlier concerning SS tip placement but only got one response. May have posted the question wrong. Just really getting started on my '71 Chevelle and next up is new exhaust. Question is, just exactlly where do the stock SS exhaust tips mount in relation to a fixed point to measure from. Such as the rear bumper or valance. Anyone with a '71 or '72 Chevelle care to post some pics of their exhaust and supply some meaurements from a known point? Really need to know as the Chevelle is headed to the exhaust shop tomorrow after work.

I will have to agree with Aukai. The location on mine, is just where they happen to exit with the pipes that I think is from flowmaster, by previous owner. Mine are sticking out about 1 1/2 inches from Valance, and there not original tips. These are slight oval and rolled edge

Thanks guys for the replies and the pics. Some great looking Chevelles there. One day hope mine looks as good. Right now it has a LONG way to go but am making some progress. Fresh 700R4 installed, original floor shift tilt column, original factory buckets, console, horseshoe shift with a Shiftworks conversion for the detents, next up is the exhaust issue.

Hi-ps SS 454, I did a double take when I seen your post and picture. That is a spittin' image of my Chevelle only much, much nicer. Code 26 Mulsanne Blue with the white rally stripes. Gotta' love it !
