: Where do you guys get your Crower stuff from?
I called Crower today about a set of their stainless rocker arms(similar to comps) and they told me $430!!!!  I am figuring they are selling them for more than most places, any ideas where to get crower at a cheaper price? thanks!
BillsCamino Feb 3rd, 05, 1:49 PM Did you try calling Wolfplace (Mike Lewis)?

71454Chevelle Feb 3rd, 05, 1:55 PM That price sounds about right.
5 years ago I paid almost $400 for my Crower Stainless Steel roller rockers from Summit.
Just the other day I was checking into replacing the rockers on the intake side from 1.7 to 1.8's. On the Crower site, they had a price of around $27.00 each while Summit wanted $35.00 each.
Pat Kelley Feb 3rd, 05, 3:38 PM What's wrong with Comp Pro Magnums. They are a over a hundred bucks less. Also, they are chrome moly which is stronger than stainless.
yeah, i was on a trip, comps stainless were $430 too. I just ordere the promagnum's for $300.
Bob West Feb 3rd, 05, 9:20 PM Crane Golds are cheaper yet !!!
RB69SS396Conv Feb 3rd, 05, 9:31 PM cheaper yetAnd less expensive too!!
Crane Golds are aluminum.
Nowhere close to being in the same league as the good ones, that he was asking about.
The better Comp rockers are stainless, as are the Crowers; the base-model steel ones (the Pro Magnum) aren't.
Summit also carries Crower. Not sure if Jeg's does or not.

Thanks for the post Bill but I am not a dealer for Crower.
They have some real crappy requirements regarding how much you buy on a yearly basis even after the initial buy in which ain't real cheap to start with. graemlins/sad.gif
Don't have a problem with an initial buy in but requiring you to purchase a yearly minimum can really suck for smaller shops
Bob West Feb 3rd, 05, 11:18 PM I'm quite sure the Crane Golds would handle anything he is going to throw at them. I got 4.5 years out of the cheap Crane Energizers which included 2 full years of racing. All I know is that they worked for me. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Ron454 Feb 3rd, 05, 11:35 PM Try Sallee Chevrolet. (Google them, real nice folks)
I got mine for $355.
My engine builder echos Mike's comments.
In fact, Crower asked him why he doesn't buy more from them, so he told em!
Ron
CNC BLOCKS N/E Feb 3rd, 05, 11:37 PM We can buy Crower at WD pricing if interested give me a call we can get Comp. items as well.
427L88 Feb 4th, 05, 2:45 PM Bob, you think I'm on "borrowed time" with those for a street car ( 5-7k/ yr)?? Its one of those things, you won't know until you know, right.
I think Brian ( MotorMartyr) has a relationship with Crower. THey make mint stuff man.
yanniz Feb 4th, 05, 4:40 PM not sure if this is the right place in your engine to save $100....just my opinion..
EddieC67ss Feb 4th, 05, 5:39 PM Always have had good luck with Crane.
RB69SS396Conv Feb 4th, 05, 6:50 PM Crane is OK.
Aluminum from anyone is bad... for the street. OK for racing, where a part only sees a few thousand "reps" over its entire lifetime, and you don't want to spend a gigabuck to get from 99.998 to 99.999% reliability; bad for the street, where you hope it might see near a billion.

Ouch, that was my train of thought. Well not as eloquent , but in jist..race cars and show queens only...
Ouch again, there's my penance. Brian would NEVER get me a deal on Crower steels. :( Very spendy anyhow.
Bob West Feb 4th, 05, 9:49 PM Gene, I think you're fine, after 4.5 yrs my rollers were starting to show wear, but still worked great, you can't argue with 400 passes and a couple thousand miles per year on the street. I'm not sure where RB is coming from, and how much experience he's had with them on the street.
10secBu Feb 4th, 05, 9:53 PM Try Tracy Dennis at Sunset Racecraft. They have very good pricing on Crower stuff.

BTW, Comp Cams Pro Magnum rockers are an affordable option to the much more expensive stainless rockers. I've used the Pro Mag's for a while now and am very happy with them as far as quality, durability and also slim design for spring clearance.
427L88 Feb 4th, 05, 9:54 PM I am driving the car less nowadays anyhow. Still like the notion of steel for endurance. Thnx Bob.
Harold Sutton Feb 4th, 05, 9:58 PM I have a friend who broke a Crane gold rocker on a Super Stock 396 - 375 Camaro and one of the needle bearings managed to find its way into the oil pump. Locked up the pump and broke the pump drive in half. He got it shut down pretty quick so it didn't do any major damage but i don't remember how much other stuff it hurt.
