Hi,
I'm putting a 67 12 bolt posi rear into a 66 conv that currently has a 10 bolt open rear. So, the spring base mount is different from what's now in my 66.
1- I assume I should then use 67 springs, correct?
2- Which spring insulators are necessary then? Do I use the ones for a 66 or a 67 as they go on top of the spring? Or did the 66 ones go on top and the 67 on bottom?
Or what?

isolators were only used at the top to isolate the spring from the frame, not the axle.

Ok, that makes sense.
I know my 66 rear has the bolt/clamp style base for the spring and the 67 rear has that top hat design in the picture.
How about where the spring touches the frame(actually the insulator) on top? Is that part of the frame physically different between 66 & 67?
Bottom line...
1- should I purchase 66 or 67 springs?
2- Use 66 insulators for 66 springs and 67 insulators for 67 springs. Correct?
Thanks,
Phil

PLCGURU, the 66 springs will work on the 67 rear. I just did the same thing recently.

OK, thanks TW. That's good to know.
By the way, what shifter is that in your 66? Did it take a lot of fabrication to get it mounted?
If you're looking on my website, it's a B&M Quicksilver. The only mods to the console were trimming of the under side of the chrome shift indicator plate. I had to bend the shift indicator on the shifter out of the way and set shims under the shifter to get it positioned in just the right spot. It was actually pretty easy. The shifter worked very well. I had no problems with it. The car now has a 5sp with a manual console (I got the itch for a manual).
