Hey everyone.I was wondering if someone had the GM part# for the oil pan for the 454HO crate engine so that I can fit it into my 70 Chevelle? The parts guy I am dealing with at the dealership either has no clue or can't be bothered! Thanks.

www.gmperformanceparts.com has the pan and a lot of other part numbers listed. That's where I found the # for the pan kit I order from the dealer.

Ya you are right he didn't!:mad:I also never seen it mentioned in the GMperformance book for the 454HO either. All other big blocks seem to call for it though.Do I have to get this from GM or can I get it from MSD?

DO NOT use any otehr gear, including the MSD gear (even though they tell you its fine) with the crate motor, you WILL trash the cam at the very least, if not all the bearings. Get the GM gear, and have it honed-out to fit the MSD dizzy if that's what your running. The gear was like 25-30.00 when I got it, then I paid I think another 25.00 to the machinst to open it up a touch. Make wanna ask Mike Lewis AKA Wolfplace, I think he stocks them ready to install on the MSD.

It's noted in the tech specs for the 454HO on the website. Pretty sure it's in the catalog as well becuase it has pretty much the same info as the website. Melonized gear, distributor, flywheel, pan kit, are all listed in catalog.
There are a few discrepencies though. Says block has boss for clutch ball stud but it's not drilled and tapped. Mine came drilled and tapped. Pan kit says order part# xxx for the dipstick, dipstick is included in the kit so don't order another one.
