I've searched alot of threads and see lots and lots of opinions. First the question, looking for a flat tappet cam for a Street 383,was running a xe274.
I'm running a gm crank , pink 5.7 rods ,sportsman 2 ported heads, currently have 10.2 cr, trw flattops, performer intake, a 650 street demon, Im buying new pistons [probably Probe] a 3:31 posi w/ a 350 turbo I,m buying a new converter so open there also.
This car is a street cruiser and rarely taken to the strip. I'd of coarse like a killer idle and to keep the torque and hp in the 1800 - 5800 range.
I know theres lots to chose from and I would like to be sure of a good choice after the rebuild is done.
This is a power brake car so I'll need enough vacuum.

Don't kill me for this but I have considered the new flat tappet Comp Thumper cam. I understand these dont have the max possible output but the idle is unbelievable sounding and this will not be a racer.

You seem to be the man to advise me on this, I'm looking forward to your opinion!!!!!!

Thanks

I like the comp 292 magnum. Its rpm range is 2500-6500. So a 2800-3000 converter is required,

A Harold designed Voodoo 60104 would be a good choice.
I've got one in a 383 that runs/sounds awesome!!

Thanks guys, I have looked at both those cams. The comp is a little big for what I need. The voodoo is one Im considering.
Harold, if there is a good way I can contact you with any info you might need to help me with cam choice please let me know!
