got the new carb on (had to put a spacer under it for now so the dual feed line can clear the heater hose), but its leaking gas from the rear brass 1" fitting

is there an easy way to tighten this without pulling the carb? I can't get a wrench on it, its slipping off...and its too long to get further down near the distributor

Cut down a wrench or use a crows foot.

Seems to me it would take longer to boot up your computer and post the question here than it would to pull the carb? Maybe not.

Put a little oil on the threads and they'll tighten up better.

I'd look REAL close at the flare on the line itself. I've had a couple that were awful. One was Holley branded, the other Mr. Gasket. Of course they're all Chinese junk!!!

computer was already up and I was done working for the night anyway...its cold outside and I was tired of freezing the driveway with a flashlight

I have limited tools here so I was just seeing if there were any special tricks, it would be a severe pain to have to pull it due to the fitting issues with the fuel lines right now. I just need this to run so I can get home for the holiday and fix everything where it looks nice and fits more proper.

Speaking from previous experience with my 66.Pull the carb and carefully tighten the fitting.I had rebuilt the carb on my 66,started it up adjusted everything, checked for fuel leaks and thought I was good to go.NOT.I took the car for a short drive and about the time I was at the freeway on ramp,as I made the turn I thought I smelled Gas.Well to late to do anything on the on ramp.Needless to say I got off at the next off ramp pulled over and shut it off.Long story short, the fitting your talking about had a little nylon gasket that some how got pinched and failed to properly seal.Dont take the chance.Just my .02
