Hey all,
Changed out my power steering pump and high pressure line on my 86 ford f-350.
Now the new belt squeels on the cranck pulley unless its very, very, tight. This leeds to streching the belt, more squeeling and tightening in a week or so.
When I replaced the high pressure line a spring and piston came out of the hose port. Had to push hard to get these back in. Did I mess up some thing in the steering box?

Are the pulleys nice and clean??? And the belt? Maybe some residue there causing it to slip.

Pulleys are spotless,
New belt.

Is your truck a 7.3 diesel? I had the same issue with mine my truck had 180K miles on it and it was squeeling bad and changed the belt and still made noise then I got a better belt and no more noise... now my truck has 199800K miles on it and still no noise. Check your belt or get a better quality belt.
