Why would anyone go to the expense of a roller for a drag only car and run a hydraulic? I know next to nothing about rollers because they are out of my budget so don't take the question the wronge way, I'm trying to learn something.

Usually you wouldn't. A solid roller will give you more bang for the buck than a Hyd roller anyday of the week. And if you are talking drag only solid roller is the obvious choice.

There are as many different types of people racing as you would meet in any other segment of society. Some people dont want to mess with jetting, timing, or valve lash at the track.I had one racer comment to me that if he "had to be under the hood after every round" that it "would be time to take the car home".He was the previous years class champion. After all its consistancy that wins races in bracket racing.

A friend of mine has a bracket car with a hyd cam in it...he knows a solid would be better but he also realizes that time is in short supply and for him to get home ..load up the trailer , get all his stuff and drive and hour to the track every week ...come home late and tired and get up ..go to work... kids in school ext...It's just one less thing he has to worry about.... He would much rather just stab and steer...and were are only talking about an 11 sec 396 car... not a real killer piece... He isnt worried about the last bit of HP...but constiantly worries about how to get his R/T to where it should be.
