Anyone here use or even heard of teflon coated bearings? Apparently it's super durable and decreases friction by alot. As far as pricing, I've only heard around $10 a bearing......which is pretty cheap for it's supposed functions and durability.

I have used coated bearings for guys that just had to have them..but have allmost allways used regular clevite bearings , and never had a problem that I could blame on the bearings, If your clearance's are right and you keep the oil and filter changed, you should be fine

TROY I was just wondering if there were any horsepower benefits from coating the bearings actually.....a good set of bearings clearenced right and fresh oil are always hard to beat.

We have done a ton of analysis of coated bearings at Clevite and have not found any measurable advantage with the coatings. Have not found them to be detrimental either, when applied correctly, so it boils down to personal preference. Some engine builders are emphatic about using coated bearings, but I think you will find that most just use the bearings as they come out of the box.

We tried coated bearings in the TAD we ran. They didn't hold up any better than regular ones. Of course that was a pretty tough test on bearings.
