Restoring my 68 Chevelle convertible. On the top of the windshield frame black vinyl is glued to the frame. Anyone know where I can buy the vinyl?

I took a sample of the material and matched it up perfect at Joanne Fabric - cost about $6.00. Be careful taking the top trim peice off - I dont know how it happened but I ended up cracking the windshield - did not notice it till the next day.

So - That little fix ended up costing me $250 for a new windshield. :(

Thank you for the reply and the warning but I cracked the windshield taking it out. I purchased a date coded one for a lot more than $250.

They sell them on E-bay also. Search this forum there was the same question a few months back with a link to an E-bay store that had them in every color.

PUI makes them, and as Bob stated available on ebay and elsewhere about 50 bucks. Madrid grain is still a very readily available pattern at most fabric stores as Mark discovered.

The interior guy who installed my covers had rolls of the stuff. Cleaned everything up REAL good, used contact cement and stretched a piece across. Just be sure and start with a piece wide enough to allow for the curve of the frame............. you can trim it after its installed.

Thanks everyone for the help. I could find everything for the car but this piece of vinyl. Turns out it is real easy to find. Thanks again. Be back when I'm further along.
