I have a 1968 that has the original CA Black plates but they are rusty and banged up. I want to clean them up and re-paint them. Does anyone know the correct blacj and yellow paint codes, shades or type of paint I should use?
Thanks

I had the same problem ..... I took them to paint shop I deal with & had them mix paint to match :)

be Careful !! its Illegal to modify a license plate in anyway in CA ... that means repainting also

match those colors prefect or risk a ticket !! & NEW White/Blue plates

I straighen and refinished my plates in black and had one of the area pinstripers do the letters, My plates were inspected by the local DMV Office since it had been a number of years since the car was register. The DMV Office did not say anything about the fact the plates had been restored, the DMV issued tags and I'm now running my plates on my car.
