I though it odd when I added power steering to my '70 chevelle that there were no o-rings on the pressure hose connections to the gearbox. I was reading a CHP article and it said sometime in the early 70's o-rings started to appear. Am I missing something? I seems like the metal/metal connection with a lot of exposed threads ought to have some sort of seal.

I can't vouch for the connection to the gearbox, but the connection to the pump didn't have one. I just recently replaced the pump and kept the old reservoir. The connection to the back of the pump didn't have one.

Chevy did not start using the O-rings in the power steering gearboxes until 1980. So if your 70 has original parts, it has the flared ends. If you put in a newer gearbox, say from an 80 Z28, you will need the O-ring style hoses and the O-rings.
