I Have a 67 chevelle with a 454. It has a holly # 3110s 750cfm carb. Is there a advantage to go to a double pumper, Thanks

It's said that vacuum sec carbs work better on heavy cars and cars with automatics. Vacuum sec carbs are more forgiving when it comes to over carbing as the sec's only open as the engine needs them. The mechanical sec's then tend to work better on lighter cars and manual trans cars.

There will be many opinions and someone will have a mechanical sec carb on a heavy automatic car and tell you it works fine. Mechanical sec carbs are generally thought of as more performance oriented. I think if set up properly either can do the job and for a street cruiser the vac sec carb would be my choice.

Loose converter-ed and stick cars, particularly with lower ( # +) gearing seem to prefer DPs.

I typically vote for elephants too, not that it hasn't caused me to vote for a jackass once in a while.

I like the double pumper for drag racing applications.

I ran an 855 vac. carb on a 10.30 BB car with a 400 in it. Every thing else I tried wasn't as easy to keep right or as consistent.
