I finally started piecing my Dart Little M smallblock together today. I ran into a snag with the spirolocks. I cant get them to spiral into the pistons like they are supposed to. It seems that they bite into the piston and will not spin once I get them started.Almost seems like they are too big for the ring in the piston. Any tips or advice from those who have dealt with these little razor blades before?
Thanks,
Doc

I tried that but still no dice. I wonder if they are the wrong size.

are you trying to press them into place or twist them in ?

They need to be stretched, then started into the groove, once started press into place w/ small screwdriver, pick .. etc.

i think some builders prefer a small length of wooden dowel to twist them in.(no scratches)

Doc,
The spiral locks do not "spin" . They are actually pretty tight in the groove. Stretch them out like the picture in the bre link, maybe even more, then get the one end started and "work" the rest of it in with a small screwdriver. They are almost impossible to get back out. I guess its possible that they are the wrong ones, but probably just inexperience. What is the part number on the spiral lock baggie ? What pistons are you using ?

Thanks Bill. I got them in. I was trying to spin them. I didn't realize that you were supposed to stretch them firstand them spiral them in. Once I figured it out it wasn't so difficult.
