Just curious what HP and tourque estimates will come when I get my engine build put together.

I'm guessing 500 HP @ 5800 RPM and 500 TQ @ 4250 RPM.

I would guess around the same as Eric, maybe slightly lower- 480 HP @ 6000 RPM.

Should be enough power to go 11's.

There must be some reason that you selected the combo, why don't you build it and post the results.

One thing to be said about modeling a new combo after a proven combo: sometimes seemingly small changes will have a dramatic negative impact on power. Proven combos work well because the different components are very complimentary to each other. Of course there are also times when a simple change will remove a bottleneck to horsepower.

Just remember that horsepower is all about flow - keep the flow of air and fuel at the right ratio going in and out of an engine and you will make power. Anything that breaks the chain of flow will hold you back.

FYI that same 406 made a few ponies shy of 600 with a solid roller! Great motor.

I have a 408 sb with the Pro 1 heads (mild intake and head porting) comp solid roller 248/254 with 580ish lift vic jr intake 10.4 to 1 6in rods 1 3/4 in headers.
it made 517hp and 512 torq (torq was very close to this).
I have more info on combo and dyno numbers on here do search under my name for more info....The Darts can make power to...

I had a 408" sbc in my prostreet nova.
4 bolt splayed mains,moroso 7 qt,w/crank scraper and windage screen.Crower 6" rods,Cola 4340 steel crank,JE 11.4 comp. pistons,predator roller(639 intake,672 exhaust lift),Dart sportsman steel heads,mild porting,202/208 valves,Brodix HVH intake,all MSD ignition,960 cfm holley.Made right around 600 HP.I forget at what rpm,and the torque.Was a very wicked sounding SBC,and very responsive throttle.
