No - actually the best car won today. NASCAR used to have great drivers that could take a mediocre car to a top 5, now they have great cars that take mediocre drivers to top 5's. (and today a victory) One big reason that sport sucks more and more over the last 5 years or so, and maybe longer.

So what then do you say about Juan Pablo Montoilet. He is considered a world class driver and he can't produce anything.

Obviously I said that the CAR does the winning these days, NOT the driver. And JPM needs more time to get the feel of the cars. In the 48 car JPM is the winner today, but not in his 42. Read my original statement, and you'll get it.

Yawn.... I'm a big JJ and JG fan, but this is getting quite boring. I used to watch the races every weekend, but now find other things to do and just tune in for the last 20 laps or so. Let's hope Nascar finds a way to make racing the way it ought to be ~ exciting ~ or I can see them losing more and more fans.

So, did anybody pass anybody today, or was it a typical COT race? I saw most of the first 150 laps, and the only passing was done on pit road. :boring:

If they don't do something different with that car to make it handle better (and not look so ugly too!) they will continue to lose fans, viewers, and eventually sponsors.

I agree, they need to do a huge revamp. I am a huge bicycle racing fan, and obviously the Tour de France is kind of our Daytona 500. Well it's no secret that the TdF has been under attack as of late and is losing it's fan base as well. The organizers have completely revamped the TdF for next year in a huge effort to put the excitement back into the race. They recognized the problem right away and made an effort to change it. NASCAR on the other hand wil just sit on their golden throns and think they are doing what is best for the sport and not realize they are driving the fans away.

As of about 3 years ago I started watcing less and less. I was pretty disgusted before that, but held on hoping things woudl get better.

I agree, but everything NASCAR has done in the last bunch of years has lost them traditional hard-core fans. Problem is they pick up more fly by night new fans than they lose. These fans will be ther for a few years and then move on, unlike the hard-cores, but when they are gone new fly by nights will move in. Eventually they will dwindle away and NASCAR will want to woo the old hard-core fans again. Too late already.

I disagree that they really think they're doing what's best for the sport. They do what's best for them. Big $$$ the way they are working things, but definately not good for the sport.
