What is you current engine set up? Displacement, cam, heads, intake manifold, carb, exhaust system, transmission, gearing? Current Compression ratio?

I have a 72 chevelle w/ stock 350/th350,2.76 gears and 2 1/2 exhaust. I want to use these 186 casting camel hump heads because they are just sitting in my closet. They are redone.I would just need rockers

well don't bolt them to that engine you have now without a piston change, compression would be over 10to1 if you plan on building a entire engine let us know and how much you want to spend.
i have a engine on a stand with those heads that went 100,000miles and can recomend some things to you, also do you plan on keeping that 2.56 gear?

I would like to start fresh w/ a combo that would be a good daily driver.I do plan on changing my gearing depending on that combo. I do have factory a/c,so something w/ decent vacumm.I need something that can run on no more than 91 oct. These heads are 2.02/1.96
thanks !

go with max of 226 at .050 duration, max 460 lift and if you like the sound of a sewing machine under the hood put a set of rhoads lifters in it with a quarter turn in from zero lash. performer or performer plus intake i recommend the performer as it's almost a direct bolt in with the a/c brackets, 9 to 1 compression and a set or 1.6 roller rockers , a reworked q jet or 750 vac secondary carb, set the timing at 12 before and total of 36 all in by 3000, i prefer msd ignition with a vac advance and loosen the converter up just a little, put 3.31 gears in it and 1 and 5/8 headers with 2.5 exhaust.
this will idle at 700 rpm all day and have power from 1500 to 5500 with 17 to 18 inches of vac for the a/c doors and will be a blast to drive and learn on
