The web number reads February 4, 71.

My guess on the tube stamp is...2.73 posi unit...Buffalo plant...40th day... eaton positraction...2nd shift.

There is a casting number also on a web that should be 3969278 or 3969278NF for 1970-72 12 bolt.

Naturally you'll need to look inside to be sure, after thirty five plus years the internals may have been changed.

thanks mr chevelle you are correct on the 273 gear posi unit and the 3969278nf no.just wanted to know what i had before looking for some parts for a gear change and ect. thanks again
