Gents,

gotago and SWHEATON are gonna like this!
A few months back I was given what appears to be a factory rebuild Q-Jet in a Delco Box. My pal has had it in his garage 15 years and he has no history on it before then.

Today, I installed the darn thing. A few cranks and she fired once the fuel was present! She was idling smoothly at 800 rpm on my 350 with out any adjustments. Close match in calibration, my combo a 9.75:1 350/PERF intake, HEI and the carb being a 68 Camaro/Chevelle 4-spd 327/275 horse or 350/295 horse. I did make a 3 mile trip successfully. Looks like I'll be making some minor adjustments tomorrow. Will update after playing with the mix and sec opening.

See, adjust it once and enjoy the ride:thumbsup:

 Those Qjets are heard to beat..great daily driver carb for mileage and delivers great throttle response.

They work good on 454's too ;)

I went down the street and returned with a vacuum gauge...and a spare Holley, a spread bore, in case I can't sort-out the Q-Jet quickly. I'm tickled pink that it even ran!
Will fiddle with the Q-Jet in AM

That and you won't have to deal with those annoying leaks from your Holley (whose idea was it to have gaskets below the fuel level)! They are great in stock and mild performance rigs! I got a JET Performance Q-Jet for my '77 K20, but I am waiting to get the Vortec heads because I got a Vortec manifold to go with it. I can't wait to deep-six the Holley on that thing, it has been nothing but problems even after 2 complete rebuilds. I know this could start some flaming responses, but IMHO stock holleys are not worth their salt. Yes...you can spend money and get good AED carb.
