Thanks to everyone who emailed me with help. I got some GM fluorescent tracer dye (p/n 12345795) from the parts guy at Chevy and put two bottles in. I used two because my oiling system takes 10 quarts and wanted the oil nice and bright for me. Cleaned everything off with brake cleaner, fired it up and got just enough under the car to see when and where the trail began. It started running from the bottom of the oil pressure sending unit. I had it figured out in less than two minutes... and I've been fighting with trying to find it for about 12 hours total on other days. Thanks for convincing me on the tracer dye guys!

Great!!
don't get me started on "oily" oil sending units b/c the old early Corvairs were notorious for them!!!
Not fixed yet??????
Bad, Bad, Bad!!!

I didn't have time to finish it last night. I'm taking a technical rescue class and my final is this morning so I had to get some studying done last night. It'll be done by the end of the weekend! :D

Chris, do you use a blacklight blub to view the leak?

427L88 beat me to it!. I have never heard of oil dye. Did you use a black light?

Yes, I used a blacklight I got a few years back from Spencer's. It makes the oil a neon yellow color.
One thing I found out quick, the darker it is, the easier EVERYTHING is to see. I first tried it in my garage around dusk (before I cleaned everything off) and it was visible but you had to have the blacklight right up to where you wanted to see. I waited until it was completely dark outside, shut the lights off in the garage, and did it then. Everything for about the space of two feet with that dye on it showed up BRIGHT YELLOW. I found the leak pronto after that.
I'm keeping a couple bottles of it around now because it works so well. Bravo GM!

You can also use Smith and Wesson eye protection glasses tinted yellow with a regular light bulb.
