Hello everyone!

I joined a couple days ago after spending several hours on the internet trying to find answers for my son's project. We/he purchased a 68 El Camino for his first car. Definately not my choice but he's my son and you do what you need to, right.

Anyhow, we have started making some headway on his car and founds several suprises so for. I have made a quick website with pictures to document our progression.

I took the car to a great local place to get them to do some of the work. We need some metal spraying done under the windshield because it was rusted out (pictures coming) and while there, I asked them to put in the seats and carpet because "Lou" is great and I didn't have the time.

I have already used several of the forum questions and responses to get the dash going and get seatbelt questions. Everyone has been great and I can see I will have ton's of questions in the future. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in advance.

Welcome aboard Bart.....I'd say the son did great and he not only has a new car but something that will bond father and son. There will be days of o what the heck did we get into....but In the end the sense of accomplishment and pride in his wheels will out weigh it all.....Good luck....A lot of talented and well educated folks here willing to lend a hand any way they can.

Thank Bill.

Should be fun. I think the best part was his mother "insisted" we let him purchase it so I can't get into to much trouble.

Sounds great. There will be headaches but you and your son can travel a path together and it will be well worth the effort. Jb

Welcome. I had a El Camino as my first car in High School... 10 years have gone by and I still run into people who ask about that car (it made lots of memories).

hi; my first car was a 67-elco, i beat on it for close to a year.
good thing is there is only room for 2 or 3 people to ride with the required seat belts, but you can haul alot of stuff as needed.....good luck on the project.......

You've definitely found the best place!

My project would have never come out the way I wanted it to without some of the valuable info I obtained here.

Welcome and enjoy the ride!
