: Ladder Bar Question - Upgrade Floater to Coil Over

My car is an old Super Stock car and was built when the rules stated that the rear suspension had to maintain it's original spring configuration. As such it uses 32" Ladder Bars floating on original monoleafs. Shocks are Koni SPA1's mounted inboard and perpendicular to the housing (no angle).

To date, 60 foot times have been in the 1.40's to 1.50's but I have been having problems hooking with the torque of the 500. One consideration is that despite the floater, I an encountering a bind with the leaf springs trying to launch with 700 foot pounds of torque (without the nitrous).

I have been looking at the possibility of removing the leafs (and the weight associated with them) and going to adjustable coil overs (specifically QA1's) with a panhard bar.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions regarding this change and is there anything more than a shock change and panhard addition that I need to consider?

Thanks
James

IMO, get a good double adjustable shock & not a single & You will be fine. depending on how much travel you have you might want to go with a track locator instead of a pan hard, to keep the rear end centered. I am looking @ a set of AFCO's, they are $700, but to not have to worry about traction again is worth the cost.
