performer RPM intake
750 VS with elec choke still on and working
1.75 super comps, 2.5" duals, ravin mufflers

Stock D-36 3.07 gear 26" tall slick
1985 vette 3130#'s with driver

Dyno jet #'s
motor 292 @ 5900, 421LB /TQ @2100
100 shot 360@5900 495 TQ @ 3200
150 shot 380@ 5900 585TQ @ 3300

Drag strip was 3 passes
1st motor with good burnout @ 180 deg. manually shifting @ 5900
60FT-1.85
594FT-7.61
1/8 ET 8.13
1/8 MPH 87
1/4 12.63
1/4 109

100 shot
60FT-1.55
594-6.75
1/8-7.23
1/8-94.55
1/4-11.38
1/4-118
3rd motor pass no burnout, car shifting by it's self @ 4500..160 deg.
60-1.77
594-7.62
1/8-8.16
1/8-83
1/4-12.81
1/4-107

car crosses at 4600RPM on motor and 4800 on the 100 shot.

all motor passes @ 35total( as that's what the dyno liked) I didn't spray the 150 due to the stock D-36 and the already 1.55 60 ft with the 100 shot.

Glad it worked out for you. 118 mph is very fast. And the 1.55 60' is suprising with 3.07 gears. it should only get better as you get it dialed in. According to Prestage.com's calculator it takes 424 rw hp to run 118 mph in a 3310# car. I don't know how accurate their calculator is but Mike Lewis (Wolfplace) has expressed reservations about it. Still an excellent showing.

I suggest launching at 140º. You might do better, yet.

I made a mistake on the weight, it's 3130 with driver. I use a prostock calculator and it says 410 RWHP to go 118. The dynojet read 360 RWHP.

I'll try the 140 deg next time.

see if that works

Mike,

Excellent runs, congratulations. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
You are making about 380 at the flywheel on just the engine by my "old fashoned" calculations!!
About 470 on spray

Now,,, As to the Prestage calculator,,,,, :(

Those calculators are using the formula for ENGINE HP NOT RWHP

For an example, Input a Pro Stock deal & see what you come up with.
2350lbs & 200MPH
I highly doubt you will find many Pro cars making 1500RWHP which giving a very generous 10% loss factor would equate to almost 1700 ENGINE HP

I hate to be redundant but these calculators need to be used with a little common sense.

Sorry for ranting but this is one of my pet peeves as I have emailed Prestage about 4 times & they don't seem to care enough to even respond with an explanation

that'll work for me. My goal is to have a car that will run on 92 for the engine and be very streetable, hyd cam, VS carb, elec choke, etc. If your sitting at a stop light in my car and let your foot off the brake it slowly starts too move and has NO lope. it's very streetable, but i want to be able to run a high ten if i feel i want to. I'll get there this was the 100 shot and first time spraying it. I'm thinking about a dual stage for next year ? 100 off the line and 100 in second gear ?? we'll see.

YOUR COMMENT!
I hate to be redundant but these calculators need to be used with a little common sense.

That's exactly what i did on the chassis dyno, i wasn't worried about the #, i wanted the A/F to be right and see what happened with changes.

BTW , the nitrous A/F is 10-1..i did lean it out and it actually lost torque and HP below 4500, and only gained 6 HP above 4500.

Nice times....I heard that Hypers don't like nitrous or large amounts of nitrous?

that's also what i've heard. I try to be very conservative on timing and not detonate it. I did all my spray runs on the dyno at 29deg. total timing and an A/F of 10-1.

i sprayed the 150 on the dyno. That's enough to get me to a high 10. I will have to wait till next year and a better rear end though.

Thats really moving for 3.07 gears. It didnt pic up much on the dyno with the 100 shot but it sure did at the track. My buddy has a 302 ford with Keith blacks and he turns that thing 8000 all the time and has 180 shot on it. Im not sure what pistions you have but the KB`seem pretty strong or he is just lucky.

i have speed pro's.

As long as he doesn't detonate the motor he'll probably beok. Problem is 1st time it detonates, it'll probably break.
