If I can help it I would sure like to keep from digging in my project fund for a new washing machine but I need clean clothes for work. :D Ours is about 9 years old and never gave any problems. Now all the the sudden it washes but won't spin or drain. Anything I can check on. The belt was checked and its good.

Does the timer move? Can you manually turn the timer a bit to get the washer to spin.

It moves through the wash but does nothing when it gets to spin. My wife said at first she got it to spin and drain once by manually rotating and turing on in the spin cycle and couple times but now we can't get it to do anything.

Thanks for any and all help

Is the motor running when it's supposed to spin, but it's just not spinning? I just replaced the spin clutch in my Kenmore.... the motor ran fine, but It would barely spin at all, and not fast enough to squeeze out the water. Maybe the drain pump is linked with the spinning tub? Also, I learned that my Kemnore has a bi-directional motor. One direction for agitating, the other direction drains and spins. Maybe you have a bad motor, or relay or something.

Look around on the web... I found several helpful sites that helped me fix mine. Here's one:

I cheated. Bought a good working washer dryer combo off Craigslist today for $160.00 and I think I already have the old dryer we had sold for $100.00

on your old washer, there should be a switch that senses when the lid is closed, sometimes a shirt or sock will catch it when it spinning and knock them out of wack (tech term). the washer will not spin if it thinks the door is open, It will not drain if it will not spin. Seen it several times, easy fix just make sure its activating when the door is closed.

When that happened on mine the belt was slipping due to wear - I increased the tension to fix it temporarily.

When you checked the belt was it wet? if so the pump is probable leaking, good change the motor is over heating and shutting off on safety. 9 years is 3 years longer than Manufacture think the'll last Cheaper to replace.
