Well yesterday I went to a car show in south jersey. The setting is a old junkyard. Tons of cars were there and it was an awesome show, but my son and I spent most of the time going through the woods looking at all the junk cars. Below are some of the chevelle's and elky's we saw.

LOL ....why would anyone go to the trouble to put "antique" cars out there and run them then send it to a junk yard?? don't they know there are homes out for needy cars?:D:D:D

I would have been right there in the woods with you man. Car shows are pretty boring for me. I go if one's close but it's a quick walk through usually. I'm always more interested in the driver type cars or inprogress. But they ain't got nothing on a chance to walk through a junk yard. They're all dying up around here.

That red elky looks like it was in pretty nice shape when they parked it. :(

rusty cars are cool because they all have a story to tell.
and it aint called "rust" any more- it's called "patina".
you know, like calling a shallow area with water in it a "wetland" instead of a "swamp".

Looking in the background there are lots of others (50's wagon and 63? Impala) that look to be savalble or have good parts. Are they or parts for sale or is this another example of hoarding for hoarding sake? If there was a yard like that around here with reasonable prices I'd be out there once a month picking parts to get to good homes.

I grew up with a guy who lived on a huge farm in rural Virginia. His entire family lived there. His older bothers would have been of the age to move out on their own, but they stayed on the farm. This was in the mid 1980s.

One of his brothers owned a tow truck and he would remove any car anyone offered him for free. He would haul them out to the woods at the back of his family's property and there they'd sit- Chevelles, Camaros, Novas, Impallas- you name it, he had it, dozens of them. Some of them were complete cars just in need of some general repair. Heck, I gave him a beat up '69 Malibu body and a decent, nearly complete '70 Buick GS. In return he let me pick parts when I needed something. We used to have a ball walking around and looking at everything he'd collected. I remember a nice '63 Impalla SS that had a complete 409 in its trunk. The guy's wife made him get rid of it.

About a year ago a friend of mine went out there and he later told me that everything was still there, but most of it was rusted into the ground. He found my old Buick and said the floors were gone. My Malibu had been picked clean.

The red Elky is in better shape than my 68! People like that aggravate me. We can save them and give them a good home. NOPE! We'll just let it sit here and rot so no one will ever benifit from this stuff. AARRGH!
