If that car started out as a 13837 car someone went thru alot of work to turn it into a 13637 car.

Car has small block:

radiator support
10 bolt rear
small block with single exhaust (that i can tell from pic)
changed deck lid or added the chevelle emblem
Changed rear panel or welded up SS 396 emblem holes (that i can tell from pic)

If you look at this car take a look at the front brake lines. The SS cars had the left to right front line mounted on the rear of the frame crossmember.

Noticed the same things. At least the embelem hole. It does have a good start for a nice tribute car. 12 bolt replacement wont be a cheap find though.

Or somebody has already begin the counterfeit process if it comes with a 138 title and VIN...

car was probably parted out in the past, someone might have found a front clip and trunk off another car. Not all these cars lived a pampered life. Remember, chevelles were considered boats back in the day. they were great dorors for motors for lighter camaros. Who knows maybe someone just bondo'd over the SS emblem holes. Jim

I think body molding on the door is a give away.

I agree.

Based on those 2 pictures, it seems as if the entire front clip, deck lid and doors were replaced... The basic "shell" has alot of Yellow paint, but those pieces don't show any Yellow...

Not even a Chevelle Yellow color, so the car was repainted at some time in the past (maybe they did cover up those rear holes, or maybe the rear panel was replaced at some time...

The car would warrant a thorough inspection, but if it doesn't require replacement of the 1/4s, etc, might be in the ball park value-wise (can't tell from those pictures though)... Even if its just a Malibu...

3.73 posi 12 bolt out of Camaro in Tulsa for sale...850 bucks...probably not a 68 though...
a Camaro rearend will NOT fit a Chevelle... Camaros used leaf springs, and the Chevelle housing had "ears" cast into the center section (Camaro rearends didn't have these)...
12-bolts are not that hard or expensive to come by... I see Chevelle 12-bolts all the time for under $500... Sure most of these are used, non-posi rearends; pricey but not outrageous for "cores", and not unobtainable...

I agree with Jim Mac... My own SS that I purchased in 1985, had a custom paint job (but deteriorated), all emblems/rocker trim were removed and holes filled. The car had a running small block (283?)... the only thing "SS" about the car was the SS hood and 12-bolt (it had guages too, but I thought those were standard SS items back then)... Fiberglass racing bucket, console gone, etc...

This is probably one of those cars that a few years ago was passed by as needing too much work... But now someone is trying to cash in on the popularity...

I was curious as to what years the brake line is different? Also what is the difference in the core supports and dos this also cover all A-body Chevelles.? Thanks Chris

I'm not sure about other years but on a 68 SS the radiator support has the larger cutout opening for the radiator and (4) caged nuts for the longer (4) bolt top cover. You can also use a small block support and mod it, cutout the opening and weld on the (4) cover nuts.

The front brake lines difference is on a 68
