Hey guys I have a short block 383 that munched the thrust side of the rear bearing due to a balloned converter. Luckly the problem was noticed quickly and no other damage was done. The thrust side of the crank itself is perfect, just the rear bearing is toast.

I'd hate to have to buy a whole new set of main bearings when I only need the rear two halfs.

The part number on the lower bearing shell reads: Clevite 77 MB 2509 P . I can't seen to find them anywhere....even in a complete set.

These main bearings are .010" oversize.

Thanks for the help!!!

Cable,
Clevite does not sell the flange bearing, nor the straight shells seperately. The MB-2509P flange bearing is part of Clevite's main bearing set #MS-909P, which is readily available.

The whole set is only $21 from Summit, I'd replace them all. It'll cost you that much to run around town trying to find a single.

Might check out Powerhouse's King Aecular bearings or however they spell it..

Looks like good bearings for the money, imho..

And I put them in my big engine.
