sxty9shovel Sep 7th, 04, 8:02 PM i swaped my sp-2p pile of junk for a torker II intake today..... looks pretty good.....im wondring what kinda gains ill get.... graemlins/thumbsup.gif i figured it wasnt that bad of a trade ;) but its a single plane and someone said that it wouldnt be as good as a RPM would be but for right now itll do.....
pdq67 Sep 7th, 04, 8:15 PM sxt9shovel,
I will take the SB, SP-2P off your hands if you don't want it anymore.
I already got a BB one off Jake for the heck of it..
Shoot me an e-mail at my home.

sxty9shovel Sep 7th, 04, 8:18 PM i swaped the guy building my motor he said ill notice a big gain.......he had this one settin out back and i told him i wanted to get a diff intake he was like hell i got one out back a pretty good one at that..... so i cleand it up and he said heck ill just trade u straight up if u want it....
Stalkingbear Sep 7th, 04, 10:01 PM I used a Torker II on a '64 Nova with a punched out 283 (.120 overbore = 301) This little manifold allowed this package to run hard, well into the 7500 - 7600 RPM range. If I had a better set of heads and valve train.... I probably could have run an easy 7800. It is a sweet manifold... cranky in the winter though.

sxty9shovel Sep 7th, 04, 10:21 PM well thats good to know......my sp-2p was really restrictive and was only good to about 4500 so i think this will be a good improvement......im going to go for about 9.5 or 9.7 to 1 comp itll be a 350 punchd 60 over and it has the comp XE 268H-10.....and then this winter im going to shoot for a 2400 - 2600 stall convertor then maybe a posi unit maybe......this dang money pit of a car...... :D  LOL!!!
Stalkingbear Sep 7th, 04, 10:33 PM Keep in mind that the 301 has a 3 inch stroke which allows it to get the big revs.
I wouldn't try to get 7500 out of a 350.... at least not one that had not been really worked over....

sxty9shovel Sep 8th, 04, 8:16 AM well my block and heads and crank are at the machine shop he said that he would make it "SH!T and GET!!!" he said its gonna be a hella strong street car......
Bob West Sep 8th, 04, 8:29 AM You don't think he'd tell you its gonna be a lap dog for every big block that comes along...did ya????
pdq67 Sep 8th, 04, 4:08 PM sxty9shovel,
Well then, please pass the word along to your buddy that you traded even up with if he might be interested?
I'd like to have a SB, SP-2P to keep my my big one company on the shelf sorta deal is all..
And thanks,
pdq67
sxty9shovel Sep 8th, 04, 10:22 PM I think he well be using it...... hes doing a 350 build up just for money..... so he was gonna put that intake on it....
my machinist said he would make it pretty hott.... but im sure its not gonna be a big block pounder but he said itll be a stout motor......
also i called jegs this evening and i have my flatop KB120 pistons on the way.....im getting closer to having this thing back together...... graemlins/thumbsup.gif
not trying to sound negative, but i'd rather have the SP-2P than a torker 2 if i had what you have for a motor. torker 2 is too small to make any big topend power, and being a lowrise single plane it doesn't fair well in the torque dept either. i found out firsthand about 15 years ago. cost me 2 tenths going from a performer to a torker 2 on a very mild 350.
camcojb Sep 8th, 04, 11:03 PM Yeah, the Torker II was Edelbrocks answer to a low profile manifold to clear low hoods; it gave up a lot in the power and torque department. Pretty sure it'd beat an SP2P, but not by much; that's an oldie but goodie I used to sell back in the early 80's!

Stalkingbear Sep 9th, 04, 1:40 AM I think that I would agree....I would not be impressed by the manifold on a larger motor than what I used it on... there are so many better ones to choose from. I do know that it worked well in the Nova I had.
