Redoing the steering box on my 70 with PS. I figured a new rag joint makes sense. Any recommended? Prices are all over. Lares Corp. sells them thru Advance Auto for $29.88. Ground Up wants $54.00. I have the standard 13/16" shaft with flat and ground wire. I did a search but found no recommendations. Anybody found a good one? Preferably made in good ol' USA.

the NOS ones or ones represented as NOS are going for $100 for maybe those prices aren't so bad. Personally would want to pay more to avoid a Made in China label

I got one from Napa for $10. It's the kit with the new rubber disc and hardware. Cleaned up and painted the original metal coupler and installed the new disc and hardware. I don't remember where it's made but it fit my budget and I needed it after the original one broke one day as I was pulling out of my garage. I suppose $30-50 for the whole thing isn't bad given it's importance.

Jim, I read all your papers, and ALL your previous posts before I even started this project. Great stuff... you are definetly a huge asset to this site. I'm not looking for a rebuild kit, but a complete new unit and am asking if someone bought one they were impressed with. This is for power steering and I understand no longer available from GM. I will however get a new 12 pt pinch bolt from GM, along with GM power steering fluid per your papers. I see that most suppliers carry them, but was looking for recommendations. Anyone buy a good rag joint ( sorry Jim) er.. flexible coupling out there?

Classic Muscle 1-800-722-4828 lists:
1970-76 7828871 Power Steering Shaft Coupling (correct) $54.95

BTW 7828871 is the correct GM part number for the flexible coupling with the 13/16 flange. The part number is no longer available through GM dealers unless you can find one still in their parts department.
