I searched and searched, can't find it. Anybody know how much a bare 454 gen IV block weighs?
Reason being I picked one up off my garage floor yesterday and carried it up a ramp in to a 4 place trailer, interested to know how much I lifted, cuz damn that was heavy. I'm expecting around 300lbs... Handles would have been nice! :)

Not quite stud ... but 180lb come to mind. Basically, it's far more acquard than heavy!

shipped one a while back to a guy in Michigan. A 1972 402c.i.BBC. weighed 187 lbs.. that was minus the 19 lb pallet.
Heaviest motor I have shipped was 1949 Flathead Ford V8 @559lbs!!!
FedEx Freight has scales built into their forklifts.

I've shipped a lot of 'em. Most come in around 225lbs with a pallet, probably just over 200lbs without it. The new LSX block weighs 225 and that's a "smallblock". Kinda.

My dad has paid all his life for lifting a block when he was 16 and blew a couple discs. He finally got surgery at age 55. Be careful! Dave.

The 454 block is kind of heavy,But you get used to it.I have one right now hanging from my necklace. It gets in the way when im working on my car but it sure looks good.
