would like to find out which headers realley do fit a BB in a 67 chevelle. I have hooker super comps now and I had to grind upper control arms to get them in. the part number is 2213. thanks.

razz,
welcome to Chevelle Tech! The problem with header fitment is that there are many dimension tolerances in a production automobile. Even though you had to do some grinding to install your Hooker headers, they may fit another '67 Chevelle perfectly. Also, if the car has been in an accident, even a very minor one, this can cause problems with header fit.
Your best bet is to stay with a major header company. I have had very good results with Hooker and Hedman, but it sounds like you have had some slight problems with the Hookers. Some people on this site have reported good results with Dynomax headers, as well as Summit and Jeg's house brands. Good luck.

Given Bill's comments above, the Hooker 2" Comps fit with a slight clearance issue with #5 tube and the steering shaft. Plug access is excellent. They don't hang too low, but my 67 is stock ride height ( high!). FOr small tubes, folks have reported that the Hedmans are the best fit, while Dynomax's are not.

WELCOME!

Hedmans 68196 fit tight under the car with good clearance for the steering shaft and plugs.

shorties always fit But what shorties? What brand?

Heddman makes shorties, but for 1968 and up, and Heddman says (I emailed them last year) they won't work on the earlier models without "clearancing"...

I have heard Sanderson makes shorties that fit well, but I have yet to see a pair installed (and they are pretty pricy too)...

Who else makes shorties for this application?

I'm running the ceramic coated Dynomax 1 3/4 headers. They were not the easiest install, but they fit nicely, only thing is that getting the oil filter through the side is very tight. My Oil pan might be a little to deep! When you install you run the Driver side from the bottom, learned that later!

None of them fit without some 'persuading' of something.
