I hope not! I have a Pro-systems HP 1000 that I have yet to run. We shall see come spring time. My carb was speced and built by Prosystems for my combo, I am sure they know what they are doing.

Hey Craig, if your HP1000 turns out to be too much, I'll swap you my 850 Demon ;) . BTW, did you get my last email?

Brit, I am home now, at my "profile E mail address". I did get the USPS shipping info for parcel post, thought I replied that it's a go. Email me your address and we will settle up. Thanks for all your help. Craig

Hello,

Just replaced vintage 850 with a new HP 1000. It is winter time and I have done a tiny bit of tuning to the 1000, but difference from 850 is hard to tell driving around.

My 454 has a supercharger.

1000 only has slightly bigger jets than the 850, and nice looking smooth center body. It is a very nice carb. I lost 2 lbs of vacumn at idle by changing carbs.

I don't think it would be too much for your hotrod. You might be happier with a 950 since it is a bit smaller and could offer better throttle response on your engine.
