: Cam degreeing ?

I just got in from degreeing my cam...its supposed to be 106 IC, 110 LSA...its ground 4 degrees advanced. I checked it 3 different times, from scratch...I got 108 degrees the first time, then 107 and 107. Im allowing just a slight error for reading the wheel, having the dial indicator perfectly parallel to the valve, etc...I have the cam gear all buttoned up, (with locking plate) and if I dont have to pull it off again to advance it a degree or two, I dont want to have to. I would have to drill the cam gear to fit the offset bushing in. What do you guys think?? Good enough, or go after that last degree?? Im told a few degrees either way wont make a noticable difference in the performance...what's the consensus here?? John

Hold on there, it's only been a couple of hours.

It's really up to you. Do you want it at 4 degrees? Do you want it straight up?

Do you have a dyno to measure the HP difference between the two? Probably not. So what difference is it to you? If it bugs you mentally, then advance it to 106. If you think you're splitting hairs, then leave it.

On my cam, I found it was 3* advance. If it was a perfect world, it would have been 4*. Do I care? No, because there is no solid information to tell me that 4 is better than 3, or 3 is better than 4 on this specific engine combo.

Johhny O,

It's good enough. Putting it another 2° would be fine, but it will work just fine where it is.
Good luck....

Thanks, that's about what I felt, but I wanted to hear someone else say it too!!
