: Intake....which look do you prefer ? Pics inside
Chris_69_SS Oct 25th, 07, 10:43 AM Painted my Vic Jr and added 396/350 stickers to the air cleaner. Just curious which look you all prefer.

Atlast Oct 25th, 07, 11:22 AM Both look great but I like the unpainted manifold a little better.
Jerry Briggs Oct 25th, 07, 12:34 PM Like them both. Jb
BillsCamino Oct 25th, 07, 12:36 PM Both look great but I like the unpainted manifold a little better.
Difficult to hide the profile of a Victor intake by painting it.
bob_adamsky Oct 25th, 07, 1:27 PM I think it looks good painted. When comparing both, the painted look gives it a clean and less modified look.
thunderstruck507 Oct 25th, 07, 1:57 PM i like unpainted better
2k3Chevelle468 Oct 25th, 07, 2:57 PM Unpainted.
animal69 Oct 25th, 07, 3:27 PM Unpainted, it still looks like a Victor Jr.
furball8994 Oct 25th, 07, 3:32 PM Both look good but I have to agree with the majority. Unpainted!!! Now add a set of aluminum heads (unpainted) and you'll be set.
Brettd85 Oct 25th, 07, 3:51 PM Unpainted, I'm not a huge fan of chevy orange anyway.
Bowtie-72 Oct 25th, 07, 4:16 PM Painted looks fine, although a little too much orange for the engine bay, bare aluminum helps break it up.
bluechevelless Oct 25th, 07, 4:30 PM unpainted, look at mine

tunes Oct 25th, 07, 5:10 PM Unpainted is my choice, but it's your car so what makes you happy is fine.

blasphemy !! ;)
Indeed, you are fooling nobody with it painted orange, but I like the orange. If you had orange valve covers, I would say aluminum (natural) intake. JMO.
Keith Tedford Oct 25th, 07, 7:52 PM To us old guys, aluminum intakes with a big Holley, or tri-power were synonymous with performance. When we bought our L78 car, the intake was painted orange. One of the previous owners thought that COPO cars came with the aluminum intake painted orange so he did this one the same way. There never was any real good reason to make street engine intakes out of aluminum other than image. Cast iron anything is a lot less hassle. I had an Edelbrock intake given to me with a stud broke off because the threads picked up and some other threads were stripped out. These are very common problems with aluminum. Aluminum parts break easily too. With a little experience and equipment they are easily repaired. Even with their faults, I still like the look of an aluminum intake. I guess old images never go away.
Dan Orgill Oct 26th, 07, 7:13 AM Given the fact it's a Victor Jr and you're not fooling anyone by painting it, I'd have left it bare. If it was a Performer RPM or something similar, I'd paint it.
Chris_69_SS Oct 26th, 07, 7:29 AM In all honesty, I did not paint it to fool anyone as a Vic Jr obviously looks nothing like a Qjet intake (Nor does a performer rpm).
Just thought I would change it up a bit as I have been looking at a bare aluminum intake for 16 years now!
May change it back someday but for now it'll stay.
Thanks for all the feedback....looks like aluminum won!
Have fun,
Chris
