Ah, another one!

I'm an avid comic collector, and make many purchases on E-Bay. I'm also very selective about my sellers, and prefer to stick with ones I've done multiple transactions with.

I gave a seller a chance and purchased a book from him, at a good price with reasonable shipping. The book arrived, as described in about a week. I was happy, we both leave positive feedback.

I figure I'll buy from this guy again, so away I go, paid via Paypal, and waited. And waited....and waited. No book, no problem. I send a polite e-mail, asking when he shipped the book and by what method. No response, so I send another, just a cut & paste of the previous, with a notation that this is my second request. No response. I send a third, and tell him that if he doesn't respond, I'm filing a dispute with E-Bay ( Actually with Paypal, who are an E-Bay company ).

I file my dispute, and they attempt to contact the seller on my behalf, which is the first step. After waiting a couple of weeks with no response, I escalate the matter to a claim. They rule in my favour, and I get a refund of a whole $17.00 for the transaction.

Deservedly so, I leave negative feedback. Not nasty, just factual; didn't receive item, no repsonse to e-mails, etc. So, of course, what do I get...negative feedback, saying " ABSOLUTE SCAM. make him send a ( legit ) money order. better 2 be safe than sorry. "

Not the end of the world obviously, but what a goof. I paid through Paypal, which is very LEGIT, and filed my grievance through them as well. They ruled in MY favor ( probably because he never responded to them either ). Pretty straightforward.

But, I must admit, I must APPEAR to be a scammer, because I left a huge paper trail through Paypal and my CC company, and I went after the big bucks on this one;).

The people we meet:sad:.

Yeah, that sucks. When they rule in your favor the other party should not be able to leave feedback of any kind. In about a week or so you'll get an email from him to mutually delete the negative feedback.

Rocky, that went through my mind as well....I just dislike that equally as much, because he gets off the hook for a well deserved negative feedback. Makes me feel like I'm backing off, just for the sake of helping my own feedback rating.

Sweet ride, BTW!

Dont back off either way people wonder what was said.... Keep it as is, can you still comment on feedback? If you can make a note on the feedback he left you. BTW keep proof of the decision too in case people ask.

Pitbully, I did leave a response to his feedback, just to air more of my side, if nothing else.

I have not had the occasion to use it, but I thought you could also reply to his negative. Just tell the truth that you paid with Pay-Pal.

By the way, I have over 1000 transactions on e-bay and have only felt like I had to leave a neg feedback twice. Both times, I waited until the very last minute possible to leave the feedback and never got a response :)

contact ebay, they can remove the feedback, especially since they ruled in your favor

The only thing he has done is to make it apparent to the buyers and sellers who examine your otherwise stellar feedback that he is a complete moron.

You can dispute unwarranted feedback, contact Ebay.

You can dispute unwarranted feedback, contact Ebay.

I have done that this morning guys, thanks for the tip. After reading their feedback policy, I'm not optimistic about them retracting it, but better to try and have them say no than to just assume they'll say no.

I just went through the same thing with a guy on Ebay. Bought a bunch of parts that were NOS and rechromed. I get the parts and they are all rusted and chrome is peeling off of them. I contact the seller and he states that the parts he sent were perfect. I send him a pic of the problems I'm having with them and he says that I'm trying to commit fraud and those are not the parts i sent. He then instructs me on how to rub the rust away and that he gives no refunds. I give him negative feedback and guess what i get, negative too. I have received three negatives on Ebay after 1400 sales, all from sellers, two that are no longer registered users because of negatives and this idiot. I filed a dispute with Paypal and hope I get something back out of this. I consider myself a very honest person and have never had a problem with any buyer of mine (1250 people), I just can't figure out what logitimizes this kind of thing in peoples heads. This whole thing wrecked my last weekend, I could not stop thinking about it and what a scum bag this guy is.

I went thru something similar too. I bought a set of rear seat covers from a guy in Colorado for my chevelle and he sent me a pair of clips for the rear window molding. I emailed him that I received the wrong item. we connect via cell phones and he said my seat covers went to a guy with the same zip code and could we hook up and straighten it out. The other buyer lives about 90 miles away(not the same zip). so the seller says that he will pay for any shipping cost involved. Both buyers get they're stuff about 2 weeks late.
seller gives me a positive feedback and expects the same. I give a neutral, not negative, feedback because of the delay in receiving the correct item and the additional shipping involved.
He calls me and emails me with nasty replies. He posts that I can't be happy with anything.
