I havent gotten this thing out to the 1/4 yet so im not sure what it runs but maybe you guys can help me estimate what kind of power it makes since i rebuilt it.

350sbc
Edelbrock air gap manifold
stock 2.73's automatic tranny w/no shift kit yet
hydrolic lifters
comp cams 268 camshaft
holley flowtech shorty headers
flowmaster exhast
HEI Accel distributor
All new timing components, waterpump, filters, etc.
Stock rebuilt heads

Not sure what im going to do next. Ad a shift kit or invest in a timely and costly 4-5 speed manual conversion. I need to finish my floor welds very little left to do, anyone near sacramento have a MIG I can use for about an hour? Theres a 12 pack in it for you!

I'd guess somewhere in the 14s... MAYBE a low 15, but probably in the 14s. If you want to go faster, I'd save up some money for some heads. I wouldn't worry about the 4/5 speed conversion, unless thats what you are into.

Not to be harsh, but if you're lucky it might run in the 14's, maybe 250-275hp. Did you ever get your carb problem fixed?

hey phil, what kind of heads are you running, 64cc, 72cc or 76cc. and what kind of pistons are you running? im just curious because we are both young californians with 350 powered TH350/2.73 geared chevelles.

this is my engine combo

My Engine
Compression ration: about 8.8:1 to 9:1 according to my builder. (flat top silv-o-lite)
Block: .30 over/ standard deck
Crank: GM 3.48 .10/.10
Heads: 76cc(882)
Pistons: flat top silv-o-lite
Valves: 1.94/1.5
Cam: 206/212 @ .050 lift .425/.440 max lift 112 lobe seperation hydraulic flat tappet.
Intake: Aluminum GM Q-jet and 1 inch open spacer
Carb: Holley 600
Distributor: GM HEI with Accel Cap/Coil and 8.8mm wires
Exhaust: full length Hooker Comp 1 5/8 headers, banged up.
Assuming an open exhaust, how would my engine compare to the targetmaster

and 2.5inch non-Hpipe duals with Flows.

TH 350 has no shift kit and 2.73 is open. New fluids in both tranny and rear.

lets see which one of us can pull the best 1/8 times since my local track is only 1/8.

good luck man. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

How much horse power did the stock 350's roll out of the shop in back then?

Yeah I finally got my carb worked out, I reset everything and it works fine now graemlins/thumbsup.gif I'll look into a torque converter, those are kinda new to me. What else would be good, I really want to get a floor shifter and a transgo shift kit, never really heard bad about those suckers.

There were several different HP ratings for 350s, it just depends on which one you have. One reason you should not convert to a manual trans is that most of the time an auto is faster, until you get lots and lots of practice with the manual. An automatic will be more consistant also. The floor shifter won't make you any faster, but if you do go with an aftermarket one, get one that won't let you accidently shift more than one gear at a time (My friend's biggest downfall is going from 2nd to neutral), although I think they all are like that now. I have never had that problem with my column shifter, I plan to keep it... for now.
