So they claimed they put 900+ Hp to the rollers, on street tires??

what do you mean claimed? i was there and saw it with my own eyes. there was about 12 of us there dynoing. i made about 292hp.

I have had my Nova on the rollers and it only makes 580 HP at the RW, that reading was with it strapped down and a spare block in the trunk. it still lost traction on 12" slicks

k thats why we had 3 people in the hatch two in the back seat 2 in the front with 4 straps holding it down and we cleaned the rollers with brake cleaner and wiped them with vht

If you watch the video you will see the tire rub against the fender and create a small band of smoke around the tire. We've had this happen a few times on our dyno. Chow's car is powered by a Dutweiller-built SBC.
We've never had any tire slip problems on the dyno, even with 1000+ hp.

300, those TT Supras can make mind blowing power for sure. You shouldn't be too suprised at most of the replies - basically this is not an import crowd. That does not mean that big power can't be found in formats other than Chevy V8's. Its just that most of us who have been around never seem to see very many big powered imports at the drags.

i would like to see how 900 hp in that fashion does on the track. If you look at the power band you can definately see where the turo kicks in, he has a very odd looking power band, i guess odd compared to what im used to looking at with SBC's and BBC's. What kind of time would you all guess?

You Love to create controversy don't you? I follow all your posts and the many angry replies that follow. I must admit i am one of the "haters" of rice product. But my god!!! Hearing that turbo spool and listening to the engine rev made my heart race. And what a HP/Torque curve...looked like a cliff. Is that the car that did the 1/4 in 11's??

I shouldn't say I hate rice...what I do hate is a Honda Civic, or a Cavalier for that matter, with primer body kits, aluminum Jr. Drag wing and a Exhaust from Folgers, which only slow them down.

Hey... they made the Supra for a purpose...As for ME...I'd take my Chevelle over a supra anyday, thats just me...That doesn't mean I'd turn down the opportunity to drive one.

i was kiddin, last year he ran abest of 12.0 at 122 with a very bad 2.3 '60. that was with about 500whp. it will be interesting to see how well he can do this year. his driving will play a big part sine it is a 6 speed and has NO usable low rpm tourqe.

would hate to see the build cost to get that 900 rwhp... :eek:

well the purchase price of the car.22k, 1400 for turbo, 3500 for AEM computer, 700 for cams, 4500 for new stock shortbock, 1200 fuel system, 700 exaust.so were lookin around 30k. alot of the stuff came with the car when he bought it. like FMIC, piping, clutch, gauges, wideband o2.

I still wouldnt drive it,no style. Love the power though.

Not 100% my style - but I'd still like a chance to kick the rods out of it.

I'm an old time hot rodder and admire any attemts to build a big hp engine, better handling etc. Sure American V 8's sound better but they don't handle as well as German (Porsche-BMW-VW)or Japan(Acura-Honda-Nissan) I would rather drag race and American car and roadrace a foreign car any day of the week! Thanks for sharing the video! What I don't understand however is such animosity towards foreign cars-even Hondas! :D

300hp, keep us updated in the future if your buddy ever takes it to the track. Dyno power is one thing, making it hook up is another. I don't think he'd be legal with no cage, and 6 passengers, though. :D

Paint it red and park it my garage. graemlins/thumbsup.gif I love Chevys more than any other car BUT I've owned 2 stock Supras and those cars are a blast to drive.

we will be at the track on the 27th of march. ill keep u guys posted. also this is through a 2 3/4 downpipes and a small FMIC. he and the tourque freaks of portland are confident that they can break 1000whp with a 4 in downpipe and a bigger FMIC.
