I've looked at a few posts but would like coated headers that fit with a BB factory BB mounts, with AC and PS. Any part #s or manufactures names that fit without dinging the headers for clearance. If they weren't coated I could modify them a bit. Anyone use shorty headers for ground clearance? I know this has been discussed alot of times but when it was I didn't need headers. Even a link to an old forum would be great. thanxs david

I installed the coated Hooker Super Comp (2" primaries) in my '67 big block. It wasn't too much of a hassle as they were intalled when the engine was dropped in, but some minor 'clearancing' was necessary, as well as some gentle persuation. I have power steering but no AC.

Hedman's fit my car without any problems! I can't see buying new coated headers and then needing to "clearance" them with a hammer. If it doesn't fit - it doesn't fit! There are ones out there that do fit. Call and talk to a Tech Rep - ASK if they fit without modification.

Well, I didn't buy a set for a Nova and expect them to fit my Chevelle. The reality is that no two cars are the same, and there's a chance that the car they used to develop the jig is very similar to yours, and there's a chance it is slightly different. Your results will vary.

I agree, but too many makers have decreased the number of styles to cut costs and use a one size fits many approach. There are headers for this application that DO fit. Variation from car to car of the same model should not include using a BFH to install a part like this.
You wouldn't do it with valve covers or brakes!
Here is a link to one discussion - includes the Hedman part #.

And the hammer I used wasn't that big. ;)

I bought a set of non coated Heddman Headers for my 67 BB. I installed, had to ding/modify in one spot then had them coated by Airborne in Conn. Heddman's are the best fit for a 67 BB.

I have a 66ss that has a 396/375 through the stock manifolds and a Gardner exhaust. Car has an M21 and 4:10 gears. I have an LS6 roller motor that has be lying around so I decided to have some fun this season. Freshen it up and drop it in the old 66 with an M22. Car was quick before so this should be fun. I haven't decided to keep is stock looking with an 069 manifold etc. or run headers. If so I'll have to change the exhaust. Does anyone make a 3" exhaust that exits the car where my stock one does, or do I have to get it custom made? I think the 3" would look sharp.

I have hooker super comps 1 7/8" primaries on my '67 with a 454...The fit was actually quite impressive because there were a few areas that any difference in the layout would have caused problems.....I do have to say though that even though I do have power steering and A/C I used street and performance pulleys....so something different might cause issues.
