: "72 Chevelle Home - PICS
Chip72Velle Oct 21st, 07, 10:44 PM My Chevelle is home. I found a couple of small areas I want touched up but overall I'm happy with the job. Your thoughts?:hurray:
P.S. I need to order a new rear window molding and wheel well moldings are on the way. I'm thinking about repalcing the Ralleys with Cragars and change them as my mood changes.
Chevl_Steve Oct 21st, 07, 10:47 PM After doing a whole lof of body work on mine and still not to paint, I am impressed. It looks like they did a good job!
Is that the original color?
swartlkk Oct 21st, 07, 11:00 PM Beautiful car!! Must feel good to have it back in your garage!
I'm just in the beginning phases of restoring my '70 Chevelle. I'm going to be dedicating at least one night a week to working on it with the help and have a few friends that are going to help out as well.
My Chevelle was originally the same Sea Mist Green that yours now is and I will be putting it back to that color. I'll most likely have to put the vinyl top back on mine though as the roof is quite pitted from the original and current vinyl tops that were on there.

Yes, original color with the stripes added. I had them remove the emblems and paint the words Chevelle and Malibu, just to be different.
swartlkk Oct 21st, 07, 11:21 PM I'm still debating on whether I should do the stripes or not. I have to believe that the hood that is on my car is original cowl hood (less cowl induction), but I haven't found a build sheet yet. I'll be restoring mine to the 'Malibu' trim as well.
That is a great idea on the emblems! Looks amazing!!

Thanks. I tossed around stripes for a while. Then I said yes and had to decide what color.
thunderstruck507 Oct 21st, 07, 11:35 PM Looks great, only things I would change if it were mine would be no stripes without a bump hood and have the headlight rings painted black in the center with the chrome lip so they blend with the grille, and the wheels but you've already mentioned that
with that color you should look at some cast center torque thrust design wheels, they really fit that kind of color to my tastes more than any other wheel design

Thanks and I'm thinking about the wheels.
73guna Oct 22nd, 07, 12:08 AM Nice.
Looks like Bob West's '71 R.I.P.
Alwhite00 Oct 22nd, 07, 5:35 AM Love the color, not a big fan of the stripes on a flat hood though. Very nice job.

Yes, it worked! The hood is not flat, the cowl area is painted stealth black and you can't see the raised part. :) Thanks much.
Andy69 Oct 22nd, 07, 7:46 AM that's nice
72convertibless454 Oct 22nd, 07, 7:49 AM Wow - fresh paint - its been since 1994 since my car was totally painted. Great job - I will be in Dallas this week for work - you going to any local cruises on Friday night? - I would love to see it in person.
D Stroud Oct 22nd, 07, 8:37 AM Love that color!
But I also would remove the two center chrome pieces from the front grill and black out the headlight bezels like an SS car. It will give it a much meaner look and will make the black stripes look more at home on the car.
But, still looks sweet like it is.
69badboy Oct 22nd, 07, 9:12 AM Very nice!:thumbsup: Looks fine to me just the way it is. Very well done. My 2 cents on the wheels. Cragars would be great but those ralleys are tough too. Good idea to keep them and swap them around as you please. Ya never know down the road how you will feel. How many times have you heard someone say they wish they had that part back or that car back. It's money in the bank and going up every day.
b-man Oct 22nd, 07, 9:15 AM Excellent

ssal396 Oct 22nd, 07, 10:40 AM OUTSTANDING :yes::hurray::beers:
ChaosEnvy Oct 22nd, 07, 11:19 AM Love it.. Like It.. Gotta have it.......
but on another note, I was looking at the front of the car, I am hoping it is just the angle of the picture. I put a reference line for you to see what I am talking about. Look at the line where is passes in front of the stripes.

swartlkk Oct 22nd, 07, 11:38 AM It definitely looks like an picture angle for the most part, but still looks alittle odd...
The stripes look like they are spaced front to back correctly, but the driver's side strip looks like it is further from the centerline of the hood.

Stripe is off and will be fixed as well as another spot. One stripe is a longer or short than the other.

Tortoise702001 Oct 23rd, 07, 5:10 PM The car looks nice. What is the color called?
Thanks,
swartlkk Oct 23rd, 07, 5:52 PM Looks close to the Green Mist in '70. Quite similar to the paint my Chevelle originally had. Paint code 45 for a '70.
Red Rocket Racing Oct 23rd, 07, 5:59 PM Our cars are VERY similar  I do not know if it is just the camera or what but your paint appears to be a little lighter than mine?? I had it done the original Sea Foam Green (I have also heard of it being called Willow mist green?)http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n162/nwbhoss/Terrys%20car/DSC00322.jpg also but I did add emerald Green Pearl to the clearcoat and to the black in the stripes.
Very nice!!!!!!!:hurray:

Thanks,
Factory Gulf Green Met. The pictures don't do it justice.

Mine is a Factory Gulf Met. I my car green it a little different from the blacks, silver, red, and whites. Nice color on your car.
Brettd85 Oct 24th, 07, 2:14 AM Sorry to pick your car apart, but they started it! ;)
The right stripe is longer on the back too! Also the pin stripe looks thicker...

Sorry to rain on your day, stripe is longer only. We took a tape measure to the stripes. We all be fixed. Thanks for your input.:beers:
kballs Jan 12th, 08, 6:20 PM The stripes on Chip's hood don't follow the body lines on the hood, which is more obvious than the stagger.
