Hello,

I have a 72 chevelle sporting a big block and cowl induction. As we speak the cowl induction is not working but I have been recently thinking about restoring it. On the car now is a standart 14" x 3" breather from summit. Solid top, not one of those free flowing lids. Performance wise, should I try to restore the cowl induction breather or just keep the aftermarket one that is already on there? Will I gain more air flow going to cowl induction or less? Please keep in mind that changing to a cowl induction air filter will cost some money. What do you guys think? Is it worth the extra cost?

Cowl air filter set ups are available on e-pay for about $120. You'll still need a few more pieces but its a start.

The cooler outside air will make more power this summer as underhood temperature goes up. You don't need all the electrical working, just have the flap open all the time.

Thanks for the reply, but I will not need the stock air cleaner. I have an aftermarket intake so I will be fabricating my air cleaner out of aluminum. I will also try to make some sort of cold air induction for the air cleaner. I was just wondering if it will make that much of a difference over the air cleaner I already have. Anybody else with an opinion?
