Hi, I am trying to get rid of a bog/hesitation with my 700dp holley. Any time I nail the throttle under 2500 rpm it bog's when under a load anywhere above 2500 no problems where should I start? carb, front is pink cam #28 squirter and rear is red cam #31 squirter. engine is 383 with spII's 268xe 10/1 comp 2500stall 3.90 gears in 74 nova. Plugs look lean , fairly white with some carbon down low. Any help would be awesome. thanx

I would go with a #31 squiter on the front too, also I would jet the primary up two sizes if the plugs are showing signs of being lean,I also went with the hollow screws on my 750dp.

How does it bog exactly? Does it pop back through the carb? or does it blow black smoke out the tail pipes?
If it pops through the carb it's a lean stumble. If it blows black smoke out the tailpipes its a rich bog.
Just remember that the pump cam controls how MUCH fuel in the pump shot; the squirter controls how LONG that pump shot lasts. A larger cam adds more fuel, a smaller cam takes away some fuel. A larger squirter dumps that fuel quickly, a smaller squirter extends the pump shot longer.
You want to calibrate that accelerator pump so that it shoots the right amount of fuel over the right amount of time. You should be able to mash that pedal off idle with no popping or spitting.

hey guy's thanx for the response. when I mash the pedal at idle under 2500 it will die, then when I start it, it acts like it's flooded, example longer cranking and cloud of smoke. above 2500 no problems,

Keeny,I would check your timing first, usually when you get to much fuel it will cause the engine to bog then it will pick up,sounds like you are completely flooding the engine. After you make sure you have enough initial advance most likely around 15* full advance around 35*,I would change the pump cams first go smaller I believe they are the white ones and put them in on the first hole. The squirter sizes you have may not be optimal but I don't believe they should flood an engine enough to stall if the timing is set right!Good luck and keep us posted.

JRS70LS5 , I didn't think about the timing, it is set at around 11 ,at 900rpm and 35 by 3000rpm. I have 600 miles on engine, I took out HEI. and put in accell breakerless dist. same time I swapped the 650dp for the 700dp. 650dp didn't have the bog. Also I had a 600eddy on there and it bog, hesitated, surged so I took it off. HEI. I had on there was set at like 20 at 900rpm and about 33-35 at 2500. thanx for replies
