got my 1979 truck heads off ( STUCK VALVE)and am replacing peanut heads with 1969 truck heads # 950'S FOR MORE air and would like to find a taller , bigger runners intake . after assembled will add 1 3/4 headers and 2 1/2 " exhaust . SO is a stock Q-JET cast 1968/69 plenty . THE truck is used as a trailer / hauler RIG. LET me know if your letting a performance oval port intake go. thanks mark

YES, a stock Q-Jet setup will do you nicely if you find a complete setup off a similar P/U that's in good condition. In fact it's about the best you can get, imho....

Otherwise a Performer large oval or a Weiand 8005 intake and a good old 3310- 750cfm vacuum secondary Holley tuned to your combination will be great. Imho..

Heck, a good old 600 cfm, Holley, 1850 vacuum secondary carb. is fine AND may give you a schosh better mileage but at the expense of not quite as good a topend..

NOW I'm talking about a WORK TRUCK here, NOT a Hot Rod P/U!!!!

- you do seem to have been behind the wheel of a few chev bbc trucks, my first working trk / Not a hotrodtruck. WILL keep the costs small on the 454 until it is transfered to a car body later. want it to breath alittle , any other tuning tricks , big air cleaner , tranny cooler etc...
