I need a little help again. I drove my car today and while it was running with the hood up and hot, there is smoke coming out my breather. I'm sure its oil but why is this happening? I've been through about 4 breather's already and this one now is a Edelbrock $25 one. Can someone help? Thanks

Are vyou using a positve crankcase ventilation valve? If not, blow by has to go somewhere and it will exit out the valve cover breather.

Oil blow-by from the breather is almost always of sign of poor ring seal (worst case, a broken ring.)
Change the oil, start the the engine, warm it up and check for blow-by. If it is less with a fresh oil change, then it's probably poor ring seal (worn rings and/or bore.)
This assumes you have a PCV valve in good working order. Without PCV, normal amount of blow-by will appear excessive.

Yeah, I got a PCV and the motor has about 2,000 miles on it, could the rings still be seating? Thanks

Yup they sure could still be seating, especially if you have synthetic oil in the engine. If you have synthetic in the engine, replace it with 10W30 conventional oil for a couple thousand miles to help seat the rings.

Yeah, I ran synthetic in for a few miles then someone told me to change it back to conventional. Now I got Castrol 10w-30 in. Is there anything I can do to help the rings seat any quicker? Thanks

Just how much smoke is comming out? Do you have a PCV. valve hooked up or is the breather the only way of venting the motor? If the breather is the only vent you will get a certain amount of crankcase pressure being relieved out the vent. Even in a new motor there is some internal leakage.

Yes, I have a PCV valve on the other valve cover hooked up. And I guess the smoke isn't bad enough to where I can't see it coming from under the hood when I'm stopped, only when I pop the hood. Thanks
