I see these on a bunch of cars, and found a few in the regular places. My question is, where do I go to get "SS 496" emblems for my 68 Chevelle? Does anybody know who makes them? .....or how to for that matter?

If you find out how to make them let me know. I really want a set of 454 turbo jet flags for my 66.

I think OPG carries the emblems now for different engines.

I posted some info on this in V8TV's thread about their 496 project. Car Craft did an article on making emblems.

They used a silicone rubber moulding compound to make the mould then used a product like http://www.polyall.com/ or other castable polyurethane to make the replacement emblem.

As stated some of the major aftermarket shops carry emblems for some of the popular engine sizes. If that fails try these guys:

Probably not cheap but as I understand it you can get whatever you want made up.

A buddy of mine owns a machine shop and does custom auto work as well. He made some custom emblems for a member of the Patriots to put on his BMW. They looked like factory pieces.

Check him out and see what he can do for you.

I had to make the tool to take the windshield out of my Nova today and as I walked past the milling machine, I started to think. DUH! Why can't I mill my own out of 1/4" aluminum and polish them. I just had it stuck in my head to have them cast. I think I'm gonna try that first. But I appreciate you guys helping me out. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

If you get jammed up, let me know. He's got a wire EDM so complex shapes are no problem.
