: False alarm....Still no oil pressure.........

The other night when we found the pump screen filled with junk and three main bearings worn we thought that we found the problem....Fired it up and still only has 5 ish to maybe 8lbs at idle and under 40 even at high rpm.....The oil pressure also drops very fast after letting off the gas.....Doesn't go to zero right away but drops real fast to 25lbs and then goes to 5lbs shortly after...

The one thing that puzzles me is that last week when we first found the oil pressure was low we dumped the oil and filter. No oil came out of the filter area when we were taking the filter off....Not a drop fell or dripped down the side of the filter it self....???????

This is a gen VI Block ..could something be wrong that I am missing.....oil bypass etc...could that maybe be of some concern....

At this point we are gonna pull the motor AGAIN tomorrow and pull the cam to see if there are some cam bearings that are wiped...

If anyone can shead some light on this that would be great.....I can tell you I'm felling pretty crappy right now and wish I had a spare engine to drop in so that I could atleast enjoy the Back Half graemlins/angry.gif graemlins/angry.gif

Scott,
So far you have just been looking at results, and have not found the problem. You need to COMPLETELY disassemble the engine and check / clean all of the oil passages. The cam bearings could be completely missing and there would still be oil getting to the filter. Something is clogging an oil passage, or something else is very wrong.
By the way ... dont just "tear" into the engine. Take it apart slowly, and look at every part and you will figure out where the problem is.

Bill...Thanks ...There was fresh oil in the filter so it's getting in there but didn't come out....But I agree oil should be pouring out of there .....Yes we are taking everything apart slow ...We thought we got lucky with the pickup tube etc.....What else could be very wrong ?
