: ET Streets, QuickTime Pros, or...?
kinzli Dec 7th, 04, 9:48 AM Hey guys, we spent Saturday at the track. It was the first time at the track for my car, and I ran with street tires (MT Sportsmans). My car is mostly a street cruiser, so they're ok for the street (well, they last a long time), but to hook up, they fall flat, as expected.
So I'm in the market for a tire that will do pretty well on the track, that I can still run on the street. I'm not concerned about life of the tire, as the car might only see 50 or so street miles a year. I don't want to go the slicks and street tires on seperate rims because changing out tires is a PITA due to the tires fitting up under the wheeltubs, everything needs to be dropped to get the tires out.
So I'm looking at ET Streets and QTP's. I need 31in.x 18.50in.x 15in or close to that...
So, anyone willing to say which stick better? Or is there another I should consider?
Thanks...
GM PARTS1 Dec 7th, 04, 11:48 AM I like ET streets but any are fine Hoosier requires less heat but go away faster because of the soft compound. I just use 2 sets of rims :D
Bob West Dec 7th, 04, 8:45 PM I like drag radials, but don't think they make them that big
razz Dec 7th, 04, 11:01 PM I use ET streets work great 10.60 126
Rons70SS Dec 8th, 04, 5:39 PM I use the Hoosier Quick time pros . I switches from the et's and only picked up on average .04 in the 60ft. not much but still better so I have stuck with the Hoosiers. Either one will be a great improvement over those rocks you have on the rear now.
Bob West Dec 8th, 04, 9:40 PM Hey Ron...is that 3423 weight, with driver? what gears? Just curious,I have a 505 being built right now. Builder is guessing 6-650hp with that much torque also.
Rons70SS Dec 8th, 04, 10:22 PM yes that weight is with me in the car. the car weighs 3228 empty. if you would like to know I will run down my combo as of now . I am still working on it.

CaptCrunch Dec 9th, 04, 1:17 PM I am a Hoosier fan after years of running MT's slick wise. I have found them to be not really any faster, but more consitant. If you street drive a little the best bets for a DOT is the MT ET streets or the new MT drag radials. The MT DR's will wear like butter though. The BFG's give you decent hook and wear better then the MT's... or if you drive alot on the street and don't race much (but want a bit extra bite) get the Nitto's. They are a great tire for a high HP driver which you want a better bite then regualar street radials, but are willing to compromise strip performance for a long lasting tire.
GM PARTS1 Dec 9th, 04, 4:58 PM Ron Is your car green???
Rons70SS Dec 9th, 04, 8:36 PM no it's red w/black SS stripes. Havent made it to the tracks very much I generaly run at Virginia motorsports park Or Richmond Dragway . I've only got 26 passes on the car this year. and only have 14 passes on this combo.
