Hello all,

I am purchasing a 64 Malibu Chevelle which is in great shape except for the trunk weatherstrip channel, trail panel and the bottom of the trunk lid. Is there any sheetmetal available for these areas? I looked at NPD and they dont seem to have anything. I am a bit worried about this.

Are the 64's harder to get parts and sheetmetal for?

It is a survivor car with 52,000 miles on it with 283 and 2spd PG so I would like to restore it back to close to original.

Thanks,

Hello i have a 65 malibu with similar issues. I have yet to tackle this part of my restoration, the research I have done (i am a rookie, at metal working and welding) says that these parts are easily fabricatable and very common parts to go. But as far as I have found there are no sheetmetal parts available there. Mine is bad between the bumper and trunk where those darn weatherstrips went on, so I am planning on making my own.

This last weekend i went through a classic car junkyard looking for the same area to get and all were bad in that area. To answer your one question I think to some degree the 64 and 65 are harder to get parts for. Anyway none of this helps you out but glad you are saving another chevelle, it will be way worth it for you.
